Seven things…

Well would you Adam and Eve It , I’ve been given an award, by the fabulous muummmeeee.
Her blog is written with such grace and humour, and it is one of my faves. Thank you.

The rules of the Kreativ Award are as follows:

1. Copy the award to your blog

2. Insert a link to the person who nominated you

3. Tell seven things about yourself that you haven’t told us before

4. Nominate seven other bloggers for the award

5. Link to their blogs

6. Tell the nominees about their award

Ok here goes…

1.My mum left my dad when I was five and took me to live with her and her chap. I wasn’t initially a happy bunny. To get back at her chap I used to occasionally very gently rub his toothbrush over the soap. The bathroom was next to my bedroom and I would delight in hearing him spluttering into the sink! How ingenious was I at five? God knows where on earth that originated.
(I do love him lots now).

2. Whilst visiting my Dad one weekend age about seven-ish, I walked up and down the road with a friend with a knife (as in knife and fork not carving) and scraped chewing gum off the pavement. I then put some of that gum in my mouth!!!! How gross was I and how did I manage to get out of the house with a knife?

3. My Grandad was a comedian called Hal Blue – Blue not as in the colour but as in very rude jokes. He  had a small part in a film called “It always rains on Sunday” with Googie Withers (don’t you just love that name?).

4. I have an incredibly silly sense of humour. See clip.

5. I suffer from psoriosis. As a child I was in hospital with it a couple of times, but for the past 12 years or so I have been fine, just a little bit in my scalp. I always find it ironic because people will sometimes tell me I have good skin. Ha!

6. I love natural : natural beauty – shells, driftwood, pebbles, stones, wild flowers, the ocean, natural fibres, naturally funny people 🙂

and finally…

7. As a result of being a member of the fabulous British Mummy Bloggers I am featured in April’s “Woman & Home” Magazine. It is about being positive in your 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. High Chihuahua!!
I went to London for a photo shoot a few weeks ago. It was fantastic – not so natural make-up ( I don’t usually wear too much), not my natural wavy hair (they made it really curly), not my natural choice of clothes ( I am most at home in jeans and very casual).
I completely just went with the flow and felt so pampered and lucky to be there. They also let my daughter come too which was fab – she was enthralled by everything.
Some of the words in the article are not mine – I would never use the word “fancy” as in my husband – even though I do, and I haven’t seen the pictures, so I don’t know what I will look like, but hey what a fab experience. I just hope I don’t come across as a complete numpty.

I will pass this award on to:
1.Plan B
2.The Little Things
3.fen and ned
4.unstitched
5.all-the-wright-stuff
6.A garden to remember
7.sew scrumptious

All lovely inspirational blogs.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you again. You have made me laugh and I really needed to. Perspective that is what you have given me. I can not wait to see the article

  2. That's a great list. I love the toothbrush bit. What a brilliant idea. Might have to do that when MIL next visits! Also congrats on the Woman & Home article. I can't believe he actually landed in the paddling pool, amazing

  3. Wow! thanks so much for your comments ladies. That's the most I've ever had!I got my "Woman and Home" copy through the post this morning, and I have to say I did cringe a bit, it just seems so hilarious that anyone would want to read about me.Weird.The other two ladies are amazing and such fantastic role models.I have already had my knuckles rapped by my mum, because it mentions something about women of my mothers generation being frumpy, "That makes it sound like I was frumpy!" she said,( she was far from frumpy at forty and still is), but I didn't mean it like that. Oh well – it's only going to be read by hundreds of women – apologies in advance to any other glamourous grannies!!!As for water slide my hubby wondered if it was real.Mmmm – who knows but it is his mates and their reactions that make it seem real to me 🙂

  4. Well congratulations on your award, very well deserved. You had an exciting childhood, I can imagine you giggling away as your mum's fella cleaned his teeth with a soapy toothbrush!!CJ xx

  5. Thank you so much for the award. Which I am delighted with, but have already done and honestly I can't think of fourteen things! But I will wear it with pride and think of you…I love the slide btw. Although B too thinks it's fake, I'm just not sure how it could be.Oh, and so many congratulations on Woman and Home! Will be looking out for it!

  6. Thanks for the comment "planb" – I really want to believe that slide stunt is real, and have found another clip which supposedly inspired it, which I will post soon.

  7. I found it – and I'm so glad I did! I love the story of the chewing gum – you mucky little pup! And I must find a copy of the magazine – I hope it hasn't all sold out. You must have had a fab day out. M x
