Pancake ponderings

I love pancakes but would like to know why is the first pancake never as good as the rest ?
Why can I flip everyone else’s with ease but never the ones that are destined for my tum!!!
Why do the children always have room for one more!

I have tried many recipes over the years but my failsafe one is from Delia. They are always yum.We rarely stray from the classic lemon and sugar as a topping.

How do you have yours?

  1. I'm looking forward to pancakes later too! Lemon and sugar is probably the best but we also have freshly squeezed orange juice and sugar, and sometimes butter, sugar and cinammon. You're so right about the first pancake not being as good as the rest. I guess it has something to do with the pan not being hot enough or not quite the right amount of batter or something but I've accepted it as an inevitable part of making pancakes 🙂

  2. For me it is lemon and sugar without a doubt! I think the first one fails because the pan isn't hot enough and it is trying to remember how to cook pancakes – 12 months is a long time in the life of frying pan!
